Mischief Night

10.30.03 (1:36 pm)   [edit]
36 days...

Mischief Night is here! ( or 'Missy Night' as they say round these parts)

A night when every hard faced little bastard commits criminal damage of every kind in the name of fun!

I should know since i used to do it myself... its great!

But in recent years it got a bit mental because its so easy to get fireworks..half the kids in Liverpool are walking around with more explosives than an Palastinian suicide bomber!

So the police are having a huge crackdown.. 'Zero tolerance' is the buzzword.

Shame really because kids should be allowed a little innocent fun but maybe kids aren't so innocent these days. ( can't believe i've just wrote that must be getting old!)

Anyway must dash, got to get tooled up with eggs, flour and a couple of rockets.. there's no way i'd walked the streets unarmed tonight!

Viva Las Vegas!

10.27.03 (1:07 pm)   [edit]
40 days...

As weekends go, that was a pretty good one.. Liverpool won 3 -1 and we won our 5 a side footy on Sunday, plus more importantly ( well besides Liverpool winning) my ticket round the world arrived!

So my thoughts have now turned to the first stop on my trip... Las Vegas. Now im not entirely sure what to expect as it will be my first time in the US. Im thinking big, brash and tacky, Blackpool on speed, that type of thing. (Im secretly hoping it will be exactly how its described by Hunter S Thompson.)

Have booked a Limo to pick us up from the airport as this must be only way to travel in LV. ( well besides a big red sports car) and have invested in a couple of Hawaiian shirts as this must be the only way to dress...

or I have been influenced too much by bad 70's films?

Forget it. I'll get the white rhinestoned jumpsuit out and marry a cocktail waitress, because when in Rome....

Friday Afternoons!!!

10.24.03 (1:38 pm)   [edit]
er.. 42 days er I think, can't be bother counting its Friday afternoon for God's sake! ...

Ah! Friday afternoons, there is no greater time of the week. The whole weekend shines gloriously before you as you plan how to spend those 48(ish) hours free from the clutches of work.
On Friday afternoon's work slows to less than crawling pace, which considering this is the laziest office i've ever worked in that takes some doing! People who have been pretending to work for the last week, (me) no longer keep up the facade. Coffee breaks last hours (Friday Afternoons are one long coffee break surely?) and people just don't care.. well except one.
There is always one conscientious person amongst any group, who works hard even when all around them the weekend has started but I don't feel guilt for them as they will no doubt be earning far more money than me one day.( but I doubt they would know how to spend it)

So what to do with the weekend... well you have to go to the pub after work, its tradition. a pint and a good moan about how crap work is to help you relax and move on to more serious matters of where to get drunk tonight.

Saturday is a lie in followed by a walk down to pub to watch the satillite footy, accompained by a few swift halves, and planning a bigger evening in town.

Sunday is getting up to a two day hangover, followed by 5 a side football. ( 10 hungover blokes kicking each other while pretending its exercise). Big sunday lunch and chillout waiting for the dreaded Monday morning.

This is all to come.... i can't wait.

ROLL ON FIVE O'CLOCK!

45 days to go....

It started last Wednesday, went to watch Liverpool play for the first (and possibly last) time this season, a stunning 3 - nil victory over some Eastern European part-timers, so this was naturally followed by a few (too many) post match victory drinks....
Hungover on Thursday,I foolishly decide to accept an invitation to my friends house that evening for a few games on the playstation and a few (too many) beers..
Hungover on Friday I decide that the only way of clearing this two day hangover is, of course, to go out for a few (too many) beers..
Hungover on Saturday, I was duped into believing that the Liverpool game was to be shown on satellite tv, this once again lead me to the pub.. which lead me on to a few (too many) beers in town...
Hungover on Sunday I realise I have a invitation to my friends house to watch Everton which again involves, well you guessed it, a few (too many) beers
Hungover on Monday, I write this blog, thinking i could murder a beer...

Polar Bear walks into a bar

" Can I have a pint of..

mm..

ah..

mm..

...lager! A pint of lager please."

Barman asks " Why the big pause?"

Polar Bear looks down and say " Don't know they've always been that size."

Love Lost or Lost Love

10.14.03 (1:46 pm)   [edit]
53 days....

Have just got my working visa for Oz and its just hit me that i am actually going to spend most of next year on the other side of the world on my own!

This is very scary and very exciting at the same time, I have a thousand and one thoughts about it running through my head.

Friends and family who have been travelling keep saying 'You'll love it! It'll be great!' and i know they are right but at the moment im being very pessimistic i can't help thinking 'What if I don't?' or list a thousand things they could go wrong....

I know why this wave of melancholy has swept over me of late. Its because of a girl. ( Always is isn't it! ) I was hoping to meet up with an old flame that left for Oz just when things were getting interesting between us ( Well, they were for me at least..), we kept in touch and i was really looking forward to seeing her again, but i just
found out that she leaves Oz two weeks before I arrive. So i don't get to spend my first days in a foreign land in the warm arms of an experienced guide.
( Cue the violins )
Fate is not a friend of mine lately.
